Brandon Jacobs injured against Texans

San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs was injured in the 1st quarter against the Houston Texans. Jacobs was carried off of the field and later carted away. He was hit in the leg while carrying the ball on offense. It is being reported that the injury is to his left knee. The extent of the injury is not yet known.

Jacobs was acquired as a free agent during the offseason after playing for the New York Giants last season. He has had an impressive preseason so far for the 49ers.

According to Jordan Schultz of The Score, the San Francisco 49ers are among the teams that have expressed interest in free agent Lonnie Johnson Jr., a former Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans defensive back. He has also visited with the division-rival Seattle Seahawks. Sources: FA DB Lonnie Johnson Jr. has fielded interest from the #49ers, along with a few other teams. I'm told he had a great visit with the #Seahawks as well.



Texans, Raiders expected to pursue 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo in free agency

Soon-to-be former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to be in good demand when free agency kicks off on Wednesday. That demand will start today, actually. NFL teams can begin contract negotiations with impending free-agent players from other teams starting at 9 a.m. PT. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Garoppolo can expect to receive some phone calls from the Houston Texans and the Las Vegas Raiders, the two teams anticipated to pursue the veteran quarterback. Garoppolo has familiarity with both coaching staffs. He was with Raiders coach Josh McDaniels in New England and Texans coach DeMeco Ryans in San Francisco. Another team that could be interested in the quarterback is the New York Jets. However, they are also reportedly interested



Texans signing former 49ers DT Hassan Ridgeway to a 1-year, $4 million deal

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Houston Texans are expected to sign San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway, an unrestricted free agent, to a one-year deal worth $4 million and including $3 million guaranteed. He will reunite with Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans, the former 49ers defensive coordinator. The Houston Texans are reportedly expected to sign former San Francisco 49ers defensive back Jimmie Ward, per multiple reports. Ward is an unrestricted free agent, and the move will reunite him with Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans, the Niners' former defensive coordinator.
