5 free agents the 49ers should sign or bring back

By Marc Adams
Mar 9

Hope will soon be reborn for NFL fans everywhere. In only a couple of days, the pain of a long and disappointing season will have fallen out of sight, and a new energy will emerge. I'm speaking, of course, of the start of NFL free agency, when even fans of bad teams can feel optimistic again. It's a time of excitement as your team can begin working toward getting better. The San Francisco 49ers came within one play of winning Super Bowl LVIII. And even though they still have perhaps the best roster in football, they do have some holes to fill, especially with several scheduled free agents of their own. Nearly all NFL teams were represented at Arizona's pro day, with only three teams choosing to skip the event. The San Francisco 49ers were among those in attendance to scout the draft prospects, including potential first-round pick, tackle Jordan Morgan. The Niners currently hold 10 selections in the upcoming draft, with their first pick at No. 31 overall. Of note, it wasn't just any 49ers scout present at Arizona's pro day. NFL Draft Diamonds reports that it was the team's director of college scouting. Tariq Ahmad held that position before recently being promoted, along with R.J. Gillen, to co-directors of player personnel. It's assumed that NFL Draft Diamonds meant one of these two

49ers DE Chase Young attracting interest in free agency

By David Bonilla
Mar 12

The San Francisco 49ers traded for Chase Young last season, hoping the defensive end could significantly boost the pass rush and help propel them to a Super Bowl victory. However, the 49ers fell just short, and Young's impact failed to meet the team's expectations. RELATED: Free Agency Tracker: Signings, Interests, Departures While ESPN's Dan Graziano reported that the 49ers have "at least some interest" in Young returning for the 2024 season, the team will unlikely engage in a bidding war for his services. This is especially true after agreeing to terms on two-year
