Jason LaCanfora reports that the San Francisco 49ers will sign Oakland running back / special teams ace Rock Cartwright pending a physical.
Cartwright, who is 32, was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the seventh round of the 2002 NFL Draft out of Kansas State.
In 2006, he broke the Redskins' single season kickoff return yards record with 1,541 yards on 64 returns.
It is important to note that Cartwright is most likely not a replacement for Ted Ginn as a return specialist, but a replacement for Blake Costanzo covering kicks.

However, he is likely to command a hefty salary on the open market, and could look for a fresh opportunity after the amount of

That leaves the 49ers with quarterback Trey Lance as their current top quarterback option heading into the offseason, who is progressing through his recovery from a torn ACL.
However, there is another domino that must be addressed: the free agency of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, who has long been connected to the San Francisco 49ers, given the hometown connection.
With the dots potentially aligning, should the 49ers sign Brady to a
