It is worth noting that the depth chart was compiled by the 49ers Communications staff and not the coaching staff, thus the "unofficial" label. It offers fans the best guess at what to expect as the team heads into its first preseason game. 49ers release CB Darqueze Dennard, 3 others ahead of first roster cut-down deadline

It looks like the San Francisco 49ers are comfortable with rookie Samuel Womack III serving as the team's nickel cornerback. The Niners announced that they have released veteran Darqueze Dennard, who was competing with Womack for the spot. Dennard wasn't the only player cut as the team makes its way down to the 85-player maximum required by 1 p.m. tomorrow. The following players were also waived. 49ers release Robert Nkemdiche to get under first roster cut-down limit of 2022

NFL teams had until 1 p.m. PT to reduce their rosters down to a maximum of 85 players on the active/inactive list. The San Francisco 49ers got there by releasing defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche. The roster move follows those that came on Monday when San Francisco released cornerback Darqueze Dennard and waived fullback Josh Hokit, wide receiver KeeSean Johnson, and defensive lineman Tomasi Laulile. The 49ers initially signed Nkemdiche to a one-year deal on July 26. The Arizona Cardinals drafted Nkemdiche (6-3, 296) out of Ole Miss with the No. 29 overall pick in 2016. Day one of joint practices between the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings is in the books, and afterwards reporters got the chance to speak with 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, quarterback Trey Lance, tight end George Kittle, and defensive end Nick Bosa about Wednesday's practice session as well as a number of other topics. Among the things Shanahan discussed was the team's unexpected decision to release veteran cornerback Darqueze Dennard as well as what he's seen from rookie Samuel Womack, who seems to be zeroing in on the open nickel cornerback spot.
