49ers OTAs begin today

The 49ers' organized team activities begin today at the team's headquarters in Santa Clara. The OTAs will take place Monday through Thursday and include most of the team's veteran players and rookies.

The 49ers also have OTAs scheduled for June 7-8, June 10-11, June 14-16, and mandatory minicamp June 18-20. Training camp will begin in late July.

The defensive backfield could look a lot different for the San Francisco 49ers next season. With nearly 40 of its players scheduled to become free agents, the team has some difficult choices to make this offseason. That may include replacing cornerbacks Richard Sherman or Jason Verrett — or both.
They aren't the only cornerbacks scheduled to become free agents. K'Waun Williams, Ahkello Witherspoon, Dontae Johnson, and Jamar Taylor are all staled to test the open market. Emmanuel Moseley and Ken Webster are scheduled to be exclusive-rights free agents.

The first interview with the New York Jets must have gone well because the team has narrowed its list of head-coaching candidates, and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh's name is on it. According to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Jets are flying in Saleh for a second interview today.
The coach had a virtual interview with the team on Friday, January 8.

Add the Philadelphia Eagles to the list of teams interested in speaking with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh about their head-coaching vacancy. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles have requested permission to interview Saleh.
