After injuries limited him to just four games in 2024, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey fell off Pro Football Focus' (PFF) Top 101 list. He ensured the absence was short-lived.
McCaffrey rebounded in 2025 with a dominant, full 17-game campaign, totaling 2,126 scrimmage yards and 17 touchdowns to reestablish himself among the NFL's elite playmakers. As PFF continues unveiling its Top 101 players from the 2025 NFL season, McCaffrey checked in at No. 54.
"If we were looking at McCaffrey as just a runner, he likely wouldn't have made this list," the PFF team wrote. "He earned just a 66.3 PFF rushing grade (60th among running backs) in 2025. He was, however, the best receiving back in football, leading all players at the position with a 91.7 PFF receiving grade and racking up 1,029 receiving yards in the regular season and playoffs."
During the regular season, McCaffrey once again showcased his versatility in the 49ers' offense. He rushed for 1,202 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding 102 receptions for 924 yards and seven scores through the air. It marked the fifth time in his NFL career that he has rushed for at least 1,098 yards in a season and the third time he has eclipsed 100 receptions.
His 2,126 scrimmage yards also represent the third 2,000-yard season of his NFL career, underscoring his continued impact as a dual-threat weapon.
McCaffrey, who turns 30 in June, is set to enter his 10th NFL season in 2026.
Two other 49ers have appeared on PFF's Top 101 list for 2025: tackle Colton McKivitz at No. 63 and quarterback Brock Purdy at No. 81.
