San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has been named one of the FedEx Air and Ground Players of the Year following a standout 2025 season, joining New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
This year, FedEx revealed three trophies—one for the best of three quarterbacks, one for the best of three running backs, and one for the best wide receiver or tight end.
The announcement came at NFL Honors, held at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco ahead of Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. McCaffrey also won the AP Comeback Player of the Year award and the NFL Salute to Service Award, presented by USAA.
After injuries limited him to just four games in 2024, McCaffrey started all 17 games in 2025, leading the NFL with a career-high 413 touches. He totaled 2,126 scrimmage yards and 17 touchdowns, including over 1,200 rushing yards, marking the fifth time in his career he has surpassed 1,000 rushing yards.
The trio beat out a star-studded list of nominees, including:
- Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen
- Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford
- Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson
- Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor
- Los Angeles Rams WR Puka Nacua
- Arizona Cardinals TE Trey McBride
Fans had the chance to vote for the winner starting January 9.
Heading into his 10th NFL season, McCaffrey has amassed 12,979 scrimmage yards and 98 total touchdowns over his career, cementing his status as one of the league's premier dual-threat running backs.
FedEx will donate $15,000 to Feeding America food banks in the Bay Area in honor of McCaffrey's achievement.
