San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters via conference call on Monday, the day after the team's 20-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons. During the session, Shanahan provided several important injury updates from the game.
- Center Jake Brendel will miss a couple of weeks after suffering a hamstring injury on Sunday night.
- Defensive end Bryce Huff also sustained a hamstring injury and is expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks. Huff was the 49ers' highest-graded pass rusher (84.3) against the Falcons, per Pro Football Focus.
- Cornerback Renardo Green suffered a toe injury against Atlanta, though Shanahan clarified that it doesn't appear to be a turf toe issue.
Shanahan said Huff was injured during the last two plays of the game. He commented, "It definitely just sucks losing Huff, but it is a hamstring, and hopefully, it won't be longer than two weeks. So, you know that he's coming back, and sooner than later."
The coach also offered updates on several 49ers players who missed Sunday's game.
Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) and cornerback Upton Stout (shoulder) will also be monitored this week as the team begins preparations for Week 8 against the Houston Texans. Quarterback Brock Purdy(toe) will continue to try to practice, while defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos (knee, hamstring) will continue with his rehab.
The coach suggested that neither Purdy nor Pearsall was a lock to play in Week 8. In fact, he confirmed that the chances of Purdy playing might be considered a "reach."
Additionally, the 49ers could open guard Spencer Burford's practice window this week. Burford has been on injured reserve since September 20 due to a knee injury.
