San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner underwent surgery on Tuesday after dislocating and fracturing his right ankle during Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The procedure appears to have been successful. Warner's wife, Sydney, shared an encouraging update on Instagram with the caption: "doing so good."

Warner is expected to be placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the season. Still, there is optimism about his recovery timeline.
"I think, usually, things like this are around three months," head coach Kyle Shanahan said this week, "but I haven't asked all the questions you guys are asking me yet. But I assume he'll be good for the offseason workouts and stuff like that."
With Warner sidelined, second-year linebacker Tatum Bethune is set to step into the starting role for the rest of the season. While losing their defensive leader is a major blow, the 49ers remain confident that Warner will make a full recovery and return strong and ready to tackle the preparation for next season.
