The San Francisco 49ers continued their organized team activities (OTAs) this week, with media granted their second and final opportunity to observe practice during Wednesday's session—before the team's mandatory minicamp next week.
As Phase Three of the offseason program nears its conclusion, the 49ers are diligently working toward the upcoming season.
Following next week's mandatory minicamp, the team will take a well-deserved break until training camp begins in late July.
Veteran tackle Trent Williams returned to practice after missing several weeks and participated fully in Wednesday's session.
Additionally, new defensive lineman Bryce Huff made an appearance, sporting jersey No. 47 during practice.
ESPN's Nick Wagoner noted that the following players did not participate in practice:
- WR Ricky Pearsall, QB Kurtis Rourke, P Thomas Morstead, S Ji'Ayir Brown, WR Brandon Aiyuk, OL Andre Dillard, DL Yetur Gross-Matos, DL Alfred Collins
Wagoner added that the following players were either working on the side or observing practice:
- DE Nick Bosa, WR Jauan Jennings, S Malik Mustapha, LB Fred Warner, S George Odum, S Marques Sigle, DE Mykel Williams, LB Curtis Robinson
Below are key observations shared on social media from the open practice session.

49ers' open OTA2: Trent Williams was back on the field, though he didn't take part in team drills. Spencer Burford continues to fill in at LT
No Nick Bosa (rest) Yetur Gross-Matos or Mykel Williams, who seems to have a minor ailment (He was in full uniform but didn't practice)

Quote of the day from DE Nick Bosa at #49ers OTAs: "It's not football yet."
That said, Bosa rested. OL Trent Williams was present and went through some indy drills. New DE arrival Bryce Huff mostly observed, ran some sprints on the side. WR Jauan Jennings in weight room. DT…

One of the best plays of the day at #49ers OTAs during 11-on-11 was a Brock Purdy pass to Jacob Cowing where the WR slipped on the grass, recovered and still made the one handed catch in bounds

Some notes and observations from #49ers second open OTA of the spring:
- Friendly reminder, part II: this is a voluntary session in which there aren't full pads. Team did wear helmets for 11 on 11 today, unlike last week. Any sweeping conclusions now are WAY premature.
