The San Francisco 49ers announced they have placed wide receiver Trent Taylor on injured reserve. While the team kicked off organized team activities (OTAs) last week, it is unclear when the injury occurred or its exact nature. However, Matt Barrows of The Athletic believes it to be a back injury.
Taylor, originally a fifth-round draft pick by the 49ers in 2017, rejoined the team last season on a one-year deal after stints with the Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears. He later signed a reserve/future contract with San Francisco on January 6.
Bryce Huff passes physical, trade with Eagles finalized
Defensive end Bryce Huff has officially passed his physical with the 49ers, finalizing the trade that sent him from the Philadelphia Eagles to San Francisco.
The 49ers acquired Huff in exchange for a conditional fifth-round draft pick, which could escalate to a fourth-rounder depending on his performance.
Additional 49ers roster transactions
The 49ers have also signed wide receiver Malik Knowles to a one-year deal while waiving offensive lineman Nicholas Petit-Frere, who signed with the team on May 9.
The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown on Knowles.
Knowles (6-2, 196) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent on May 1, 2023. He has spent his two-year career with the Vikings (2023-24) and Green Bay Packers (2024).
A 24-year-old native of Mansfield, TX, Knowles attended Kansas State University (2018-22) where he appeared in 51 games (39 starts) and totaled 127 receptions for 1,867 yards and 14 touchdowns through the air to go along with 36 carries for 440 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. He earned Second-Team All-Big 12 in 2021.
