The San Francisco 49ers have officially signed first-round draft pick Mykel Williams, the defensive end out of Georgia, to his rookie contract—a four-year, $24.94 million deal. The agreement includes a fifth-year option, which could potentially secure his rights through the 2029 season.
Williams becomes the ninth member of the 49ers' 2025 draft class to sign, leaving only two picks unsigned—defensive tackles Alfred Collins (second round, Texas) and CJ West (fourth round, Indiana). The team is likely aiming to finalize both deals before organized team activities (OTAs) begin on May 27, a very achievable goal.
Thanks to the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), rookie contract values are predetermined based on draft position. Collins is projected to sign a four-year, $10.3 million deal, with a $1.87 million cap hit in 2025.
West's four-year contract is expected to be worth $5.21 million, counting $1.09 million against the 2025 salary cap.
All three players were part of a major defensive line overhaul this offseason. The 49ers hope the group can help fill the void left by veterans Javon Hargrave, Maliek Collins, and Leonard Floyd, who were released as part of the team's effort to reduce future cash spending and get younger on defense.
