The San Francisco 49ers went through all 11 of their 2025 NFL Draft picks without selecting an offensive tackle. They also passed on signing any undrafted free agents at the position. However, the team finally addressed that need on Tuesday by adding some depth and veteran protection for quarterback Brock Purdy.
According to his agent, offensive tackle D.J. Humphries has agreed to sign with the 49ers.
Originally a first-round pick out of Florida by the Arizona Cardinals in 2015, Humphries (6-5, 307) played most of his career in Arizona before joining the Kansas City Chiefs in November 2024.
Last season, Humphries appeared in two games for Kansas City, allowing three sacks and 11 pressures on 69 pass-blocking snaps (92 total snaps). He earned a 44.8 offensive grade and a 30.5 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus—both career lows.
Humphries was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2021 but suffered a torn ACL in December 2023. The Cardinals released him in March 2024, before his brief stint with the Chiefs.
