R.J. White of CBS Sports released his latest mock draft, projecting that the San Francisco 49ers will tackle both a short-term and long-term need with a single selection. After losing left guard Aaron Banks in free agency and with All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams turning 37 ahead of the 2025 season, the 49ers must think both now and down the road.
White has San Francisco selecting Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. with the No. 11 overall pick.
"The Dolphins feel like Banks' floor, but I think he's an even better fit in San Francisco," White wrote, "where he can immediately slot in at left guard while developing as the team's left tackle of the future in Kyle Shanahan's offense."
While Banks didn't play guard in college—spending all three seasons at left tackle for the Longhorns—he consistently excelled up front. In 2024, he posted career-best grades of 86.2 overall, 81.0 in run-blocking, and 89.9 in pass-blocking. He surrendered just one sack and 10 pressures across 935 snaps last season.
Banks was named a first-team Associated Press All-American and earned first-team All-SEC honors.
"It's the type of selection that gives Shanahan both short-term and long-term help," White added, "especially as his team may not be in position to select a franchise left tackle very often should the 49ers quickly rebound from last year's disaster."
