The San Francisco 49ers are enjoying a much-needed break after their victory over the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on Thursday night. Despite holding a 3-3 record, this win propelled the Bay Area team to the top of the NFC West standings.
Coaches and players who chose to watch other games on Sunday likely had their eyes on the matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. The Cardinals, fresh off a win against the 49ers last weekend, entered the Week 6 contest with a 2-3 record and an opportunity to unseat San Francisco as the top team in the division thanks to the head-to-head tiebreaker.
That didn't happen, as the Packers dominated the game, defeating the Cardinals 34-13 at Lambeau Field and leaving Arizona with a 2-4 record.
With the Los Angeles Rams on their bye week and all other NFC West teams having completed their games, here are the current standings in the division:
49ers: 3-3
Seahawks: 3-3
Cardinals: 2-4
Rams: 1-4
Looking ahead, the 49ers face a highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs, who will travel to Levi's Stadium to challenge Kyle Shanahan's squad next weekend. After that, San Francisco will host the Dallas Cowboys before heading into their bye week.
While the season hasn't unfolded as the 49ers had hoped, the good news is that there are still plenty of games left to get back on track.
