ESPN's Field Yates reports that the San Francisco 49ers have restructured the contract of tight end George Kittle, creating close to $10 million of additional 2024 salary cap space.
The Browns restructured the contract of newly-acquired WR Jerry Jeudy to create north of $10M in 2024 cap space.
The 49ers restructured the contract of TE George Kittle, also creating close to $10M in 2024 cap space.
Kittle signed a five-year, $75 million contract with the 49ers in 2020 and was slated to earn $13.4 million in 2024 while consuming nearly $22 million in cap space. The salary maneuvering should help the 49ers retain some key players from last season while adding to the roster where needed.
San Francisco selected Kittle (6-4, 250) out of Iowa in the fifth round (No. 146 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. According to Pro Football Reference, he registered 65 receptions for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns in 16 starts last season.
Kittle, 30, has caught 460 passes for 6,274 yards and 37 touchdowns in 98 game appearances (90 starts) over his seven NFL seasons. He is a two-time first-team All-Pro and a five-time Pro Bowl selection.
