According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Washington Commanders have requested permission to interview San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters for their general manager job.

Peters is a valuable executive under general manager John Lynch and garners interest from other teams each offseason. However, last offseason, Peters turned down interview requests from the Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals, opting to remain in his role with the 49ers.
Update: According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Commanders will interview Peters this week.

Peters completed his 21st NFL season and seventh with the 49ers. He spent his first four years with the team serving as a VP of player personnel before the team promoted him to assistant general manager in 2021. Before joining the 49ers, the NFL executive spent eight seasons (2009-16) with the Denver Broncos.
Before his time in Denver, Peters spent six years (2003-08) with the New England Patriots. In his first two seasons with the Patriots as a scouting assistant, he was a part of two Super Bowl championships (Super Bowl 38 in 2003 and Super Bowl 39 in 2004). In 2005, he handled pro scouting duties for the team before serving his final three seasons (2006-08) with the Patriots as an area scout.
