San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy needed only 205 passing yards to reach the 4,000-yard milestone this season. He achieved this feat on Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens, making him the first 49ers quarterback to surpass 4,000 passing yards in a single season since Jeff Garcia did so in 2000.
Purdy joins an exclusive club, becoming only the third 49ers quarterback to reach this milestone. In addition to Garcia, Steve Young accomplished it twice, in 1993 and 1998.
Of course, Purdy and the 49ers currently find themselves on the wrong side of a blowout. The quarterback threw four interceptions against the Ravens, and his team trails 33-12 as of this post. He exited the game in the fourth quarter and was examined for an injury.
Purdy is on track to set a new franchise record for passing yards in a single season, a remarkable feat considering the 49ers' rich quarterback history. Garcia currently holds the record from the 2000 campaign, with an impressive 4,278 yards.
San Francisco will close out the regular season with a road game against the Washington Commanders, followed by a home matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
