In positive news from Santa Clara, San Francisco 49ers' quarterback Brock Purdy was present for the early portion of Thursday's practice. Following his concussion sustained during Monday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings, Purdy did not participate in Wednesday's practice.

While Sam Darnold continues to take first-team practice reps, seeing Purdy on the field during the media-accessible portion is encouraging. The team hopes Purdy can clear the concussion protocol before Sunday's Week 8 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
"He does have enough time [to clear the protocol]," Shanahan said on Wednesday. "He's just got to go through the process."
Later today, the 49ers will release their official practice participation report, detailing how much on-field work Purdy could do.
The bad news is that tackle Trent Williams was nowhere to be seen. The 49ers had hoped the offensive lineman would return to practice today.
Also: No Trent Williams (ankle), who was seen on a side field working with a trainer. And, of course, no Deebo Samuel (shoulder).
