The San Francisco 49ers are hosting veteran cornerback Bradley Roby on a visit, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Roby, 31, is a nine-year NFL veteran who most recently played with the New Orleans Saints in 2022 before being released ahead of the season in a salary-saving move.

A former first-round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2014, Roby could serve as additional depth at cornerback for the 49ers, who lost second-year cornerback Samuel Womack to Injured Reserve on Saturday.

Womack suffered an MCL sprain during Wednesday's practice last week, with head coach Kyle Shanahan believing the timetable for a return is around six-to-eight weeks, although the cornerback will not require surgery.

Roby has experience in the nickel and on the outside, having played with the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and New Orleans over the duration of his career.

Playing in 13 games last season, Roby amassed 36 tackles, five passes defended, two fumble recoveries, and a tackle for loss.

The San Francisco 49ers struggled to a .500 record in their first six games last season. Knowing that the talent was there, the team's decision-makers looked to make a move that could elevate the roster to a Super Bowl contender. That move was trading for running back Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey suited up in red and gold just two days after arriving in Santa Clara. His first start came the next week against the Los Angeles Rams. San Francisco won that game and the 11 that followed, reaching the NFC Championship Game for the third time in four seasons. The decision to add yet another playmaker paid off. "We really felt like Christian, already having [WR] Deebo [Samuel], having [WR Brandon] Aiyuk, having [TE George] Kittle, having [RB] Elijah

49ers vs. Giants Injury Report: Brandon Aiyuk questionable; Saquon Barkley ruled out

By David Bonilla
Sep 20

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 3 contest against the New York Giants on Thursday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Brandon Aiyuk will likely be a game-time decision. On Wednesday morning, general manager John Lynch shared that the wide receiver is working hard this week to play on Thursday. Aiyuk suffered a shoulder injury on a catch during the 49ers' opening drive on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. "I think, with Brandon, with these Thursday night games, they're a quick turnaround," Lynch said during a radio interview. "So he clearly got something irritated in his chest/shoulder area. He's working really hard to try to get ready.
