Mock draft: 49ers address several needs with 11 picks

Apr 19, 2023 at 4:00 PM--

One great thing about being a football fan at this time of the year is reading up on NFL mock drafts from fellow writers and contemporaries. This year's draft should focus more on depth because the San Francisco 49ers do not have glaring holes on their roster.

The Niners may want to address offensive tackle and outside-linebacker since Mike McGlinchey left for Denver and Al-Shaair Azeez is now in Tennessee. In addition, San Francisco will look to add another tight end to their roster just in case George Kittle gets hurt. Adding depth in the secondary would help.

I will not predict trades or player movements for my first mock draft. Instead, I will project who the 49ers might draft at their current slots. The NFL Draft will be held from April 27-29, but the 49ers must wait until day two to make their first pick.

Sports has been my first love since I was 12 years old. At one point I wanted to play football professionally. I started to take photography as a hobby in my teenage years but this was when I followed sports. I started to listen to sports radio, I found my true calling and it was to be a sports talk show host. Though I follow football and basketball, I started to have a new love of cultures around the world. After graduating from San Antonio College in 2018, I worked for the Castroville News Bulletin before going to A&M San Antonio to get my communications degree. Since I have written for the Ranger of San Antonio College, the News Bulletin and the Mesquite of Texas A&M San Antonio, I met many people and went to a lot of events. My major milestone was being in the press box of the San Antonio Commanders game for the Mesquite and being apart of a press conference with the Medina County Sheriff and other local news outlets. When I am not doing anything, I like to watch old cartoons on the DC Universe, play video games such as Mega Man and the Mass Effect series. I have also created Youtube channel called "Anger Management" with my friend Aaron Donnell.

49ers met several times with Rutgers DB Max Melton

By David Bonilla
Feb 29

According to Eric Edholm of NFL Media, former Rutgers defensive back Max Melton has met with the San Francisco 49ers several times since the Senior Bowl. While Edholm doesn't explicitly state that one of those meetings occurred this week at the NFL Scouting Combine, teams tend to at least informally speak to all of the draft prospects at the event in Indianapolis. Melton (6-0, 190) revealed to Edholm that he had spoken with the 49ers "about five or six times" so far and shared that he is a long-time fan of the team. Mel Kiper's latest mock draft has 49ers adding pass rusher at No. 31

By David Bonilla
Feb 28

ESPN analyst Mel Kiper unveiled his latest mock draft, projecting the 32 selections of the first round. For the first time since 2021, the San Francisco 49ers own a first-round selection and could use the pick to bolster the offensive line or the defensive backfield. However, Kiper has the team going in another direction. He proposes adding a pass rusher to complement defensive end Nick Bosa on the opposite side. Kiper's pick for San Francisco is Chop Robinson of Penn State. Kiper wrote, "It has to be offensive line or edge rusher for the 49ers, right? They need to find

49ers Mock Draft 1.0: Pre-Combine Edition

By Wayne P. Brown
Feb 27

It's mock draft season, and the San Francisco 49ers have a few areas that must be addressed in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. Below are my projections for the team's selections, utilizing Pro Football Focus' mock draft simulator. Round 1, Pick 31 Tyler Guyton - Right Tackle - Oklahoma Although Guyton is raw, he has good footwork and power to dominate in pass protection and run blocking. In 2023, Guyton gave up zero sacks and 12 total pressures. He can play both left and right tackle. Round 2, Pick 63 Christian Haynes - Right Guard- UCONN Haynes is a powerful guard who moves off the ball quickly. He's only allowed 48 pressures in five seasons with the Huskies. Eight of the pressures were sacks. Haynes would
