The development of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance is undoubtedly going to be a top storyline of the offseason, as 2021 No. 3 pick enters the year as the lone healthy quarterback from a season ago with Brock Purdy recovering from elbow surgery and Jimmy Garoppolo on the Las Vegas Raiders.

Lance, who is recovering from a broken ankle himself, is set to compete with quarterback Sam Darnold for the likely chance to start Week 1 with Purdy's timetable.

Earlier on Thursday, video surfaced of the 49ers quarterback, courtesy of Preston Smith, via the Athletic's David Lombardi in an offseason workout alongside star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, providing a throw of Lance in the lab ahead of a crucial third season in the NFL.

Lance has an important season ahead of him, as the 49ers have a decision on his fifth-year option at the end of the season, which could be dependent on his play from this year.
