There's a rumor floating around that the New England Patriots may be interested in trading for San Francisco 49ers star wideout Deebo Samuel. During the Felger & Mazz show, a Boston-area show on WBZ-FM radio, executive producer James Stewart told hosts Michael Felger and Tony Massarotti about a text that he received.
"I got a text message from an NFL talent evaluator that the Patriots are sniffing around Deebo Samuel," Stewart said.
Samuel just completed his fourth NFL season, recording 632 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns through 13 game appearances to go along with his 232 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. That followed a breakout campaign that saw Samuel rack up 1,770 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns, earning first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.
It would be expensive if someone wanted to steal Samuel away from the 49ers. Last year, unhappy with his contract situation, Samuel requested to be traded. There were teams interested, but San Francisco never heard an offer that made them consider offloading the star player.
