Eagles to host winner of 49ers-Cowboys in NFC Championship Game

Jan 21, 2023 at 8:07 PM--

The Philadelphia Eagles await the winner of Sunday's Divisional Round playoff game between the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles advance to the NFC Championship Game following a 38-7 win on Sunday night over the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Next weekend, Philadelphia will host the NFC Championship Game for the first time since the 2017 season, a game the Eagles won 38-7 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Sunday's 49ers-Cowboys game will be the ninth playoff meeting all-time between the two teams. The 49ers have won the previous two meetings, including a 23-17 victory last year at AT&T Stadium. Sunday's game will be held at Levi's Stadium.

The 49ers and Eagles have met in the postseason just once before. San Francisco won that 1996 Wild-Card matchup 14-0. The Niners won the last meeting between the two teams, a Week 2 victory in Philadelphia during the 2021 season.

The NFC Championship Game is scheduled for Sunday, January 29, with kickoff set for noon Pacific.

Javon Hargrave: 49ers-Eagles would have been a different game with a healthy Brock Purdy

By David Bonilla
Mar 17

Everything changed in the NFC Championship Game when quarterback Brock Purdy exited early with an injury. He eventually returned because his backup, Josh Johnson, exited with a concussion. Purdy could not throw, though. He suffered a tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow, leaving the San Francisco 49ers to become one-dimensional, abandoning the pass and depending solely on the run game. For fans, it was a difficult game to watch. Everyone anticipated a more evenly matched battle between the two best teams in the NFC. Instead, they got an Eagles powerhouse defense going against a limping 49ers offense. "We kind of knew it was going to be different when all you can do is run the ball," former Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave said

According to Justin Melo of The Draft Network, the San Francisco 49ers plan to host UCLA offensive lineman Atonio Mafi on a pre-draft visit. The player saw action in 13 games as a starter last season, finishing his collegiate career having played 56 games with the Bruins. He was named second-team All-Pac-12. Adding here: In addition to #Lions and #Commanders, Mafi has Top 30s with

Jason Kelce: 49ers adding Javon Hargrave "not going to make it any easier" for Eagles

By David Bonilla

Adding Javon Hargrave was a huge (and shocking) addition by the San Francisco 49ers. While it seems like a perfect fit and addresses a significant team need, no one saw it coming. The Niners didn't have considerable salary cap space, so signing Hargrave to a four-year, $84 million deal was unexpected. The former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle, nicknamed "Grave Digger," joins a defensive line that includes NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead, bolstering the middle of that unit. One of the defender's former teammates is happy for Hargrave and his financial good fortune. However, he also knows the loss could be problematic for the defending NFC champions in the upcoming season. "I'm happy for my man, Grave Digger," Eagles
