49ers WR Deebo Samuel likely to play vs. Saints

Nov 27, 2022 at 7:11 AM--

According to multiple reports, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is "likely" to play this afternoon against the New Orleans Saints. Samuel has been limited in practice this week due to a hamstring injury, and the 49ers listed him as "questionable" for this afternoon's game.

On Friday, head coach Kyle Shanahan stated that Samuel's injury was unrelated to the hamstring injury that kept him out during Week 8's matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

"We got back (from Mexico City) at like seven in the morning (on Tuesday)," Shanahan told reporters. "I'm sure he went home and slept for a while. It was a little weird day. He didn't feel it much on Tuesday. Got the information on Wednesday, and then we were safe about it."

Samuel has been less productive than expected this season, especially compared to his breakout 2021 campaign that included 1,770 all-purpose yards. The wideout has 670 all-purpose yards and four total touchdowns through nine games this season.

It was unlikely that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suited up on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, serving as rookie Brock Purdy's backup in the NFC Championship Game. Still, there was a slight chance the injured veteran could be healthy enough to be active. The team awaited the results of an X-ray on Tuesday to see how much Garoppolo's broken foot has recovered. Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters on Wednesday and shared that the 49ers got the X-ray results. "I don't expect to have him this week," Shanahan revealed. Garoppolo sustained his injury on December 4. A return for the Super Bowl remains a possibility. A new name was added to the 49ers' injury report. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel will not practice

The noise at Levi's Stadium has been off the charts in the San Francisco 49ers' two playoff games. This past Sunday's win over the Dallas Cowboys was the team's last home game, though. Next, they will travel to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia to face the top-seeded Eagles. While Levi's Stadium crowds have been impressive this season, there are certain venues famous for their loud, passionate fans. Lincoln Financial Field is one of them. One 49ers player didn't sound too concerned about the Philadelphia home crowd. "We know it's going to be loud," wide receiver Deebo Samuel told reporters on Wednesday, "but no stadium is as loud as ours at the end of the day. They're at home, NFC Championship. They're going to be all riled up. We don't really too much feed
