Jimmy Garoppolo's 54.9 overall grade was his second-lowest this season (42.4 - Week 3). The quarterback finished the game, completing 25 of his 37 pass attempts for 303 yards, two touchdowns, an interception, and a passer rating of 99.3. His 65.2 overall grade for this season ranks No. 27 among NFL quarterbacks and is his lowest mark since 2018.
How did Christian McCaffrey do in his 49ers debut? He was the second-highest graded 49ers running back, behind the game's starter, Jeff Wilson Jr. McCaffrey carried the ball eight times for 38 yards (4.8 yards per carry) in his 22 snaps. He also hauled in two passes for 24 yards. Wilson was in on 26 snaps, carrying the ball seven times for 54 yards (7.7 yards per carry).
McCaffrey's 76.6 overall grade was on par with his performances in Carolina, save for one poor Week 5 outing (57.1) against the 49ers defense.
Aaron Banks played his best game of the season, earning the game's highest overall Pro Football Focus grade. While the Chiefs sacked Garoppolo five times, the 49ers guard didn't surrender a single pressure. And his run-blocking grade of 92.0 was impressive. Bank's 91.5 overall grade from the game is a career-high.
On the other side of the spectrum was right tackle Mike McGlinchey. He gave up four pressures and was responsible for two sacks on the way to his lowest grade of the season and his lowest mark since Week 5 last year (49.7).
Left tackle Trent Williams surrendered a sack and two pressures but was still the team's second-highest-graded offensive lineman. However, Williams' 84.2 overall grade this season is his lowest since arriving with the 49ers.
Wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud III earned a career-high grade of 90.2, hauling in four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown on his four targets. Tight end George Kittle came in second among the team's pass catchers with a 79.8 overall grade, his highest of the season.
Safety Talanoa Hufanga rebounded from two poorly-graded outings (58.0 - Week 5, 49.5 - Week 6) and earned the 49ers defense's top grade. His 77.0 overall grade this season still ranks in the top 10 among NFL safeties.
Other than Hufanga, the 49ers defense graded poorly against the pass. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes targeted starting cornerbacks Charvarius Ward (40.2 overall grade) and Deommodore Lenoir (47.0) 10 times, completing nine receptions for 152 yards. Safety Jimmie Ward (38.6), playing in the slot for 45 of his 56 snaps, was targeted six times, giving up six receptions for 42 yards and two touchdowns.
Mahomes targeted linebacker Fred Warner (64.9 overall grade) twice, completing two passes for 50 yards and a score.
