The San Francisco 49ers are at The Greenbrier in West Virginia, where they will spend the week practicing for their Week 6 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The 49ers announced the following roster moves.
- RB Marlon Mack released
- DT T.Y. McGill signed to the practice squad
The team elevated running back Tevin Coleman from the practice squad ahead of Sunday's 37-15 win over the Carolina Panthers. Mack was among the 49ers'
seven inactive players against the Panthers and was the only healthy scratch. General manager John Lynch also recently expressed confidence that running back
Ty Davis-Price might be nearing a return.
"
I think we're feeling some promising news about Ty Davis-Price being ready here in the near future," Lynch shared last week. "His rehab's going really well."
San Francisco will hold its
first of three full practices this week on Wednesday at 1:48 p.m. Eastern Time.
The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.
McGill (6-0, 295) originally entered the NFL after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks on May 15, 2015. Throughout his seven-year NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts (2015-2016), Cleveland Browns (2017), Philadelphia Eagles (2018, 2020), Los Angeles Chargers (2018-19), and Minnesota Vikings (2021), he has appeared in 46 games and registered 35 tackles, 5.5 sacks, three passes defensed and one forced fumble. He has also started one postseason contest where he tallied one tackle. McGill appeared in two games and recorded one tackle and one pass defensed with the Vikings in 2021.
A 29-year-old native of Jesup, GA, McGill attended North Carolina State University where he appeared in 49 games (13 starts) and registered 122 tackles, 10.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one pass defensed.
Mack appeared in two games and registered one fumble recovery on special teams after being promoted to the active roster from the team's practice squad on September 21, 2022.

Kyle Shanahan praises his quarterback room every year. Last season, the San Francisco 49ers went through three starting quarterbacks and still made it to the NFC Championship Game. That opened the door for rookie Brock Purdy to show his coaches and the NFL world that he belonged, despite being the last overall pick in the draft. Purdy guided the 49ers to eight consecutive wins before suffering a severe injury in that NFC title game matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Two of the quarterbacks from last season—Lance and Purdy—remain. Both are just 23 years old. They are joined by Sam
