The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 4 contest against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Defensive linemen Arik Armstead and Javon Kinlaw were among several 49ers players who did not practice on Thursday. Friday was no different. Armstead continues to work his way back from plantar fasciitis in his right foot, while Kinlaw is dealing with knee issues.

Armstead was seen working on a side field with the training staff, as was the case on Thursday. During his Friday-morning KNBR interview, general manager John Lynch was asked if Armstead's injury might be a season-long concern.

"I know that those things can nag," Lynch responded. "I've played with some guys that the best thing that's happened is that plantar fasciitis—I don't even know what it is, it's a ligament, it's a muscle—that it just tears because then it's gone. You're out for like seven, ten days, and then you go play.

"But it is just kind of a nagging thing that it's fired up right now. It's hard to avoid. But Arik is working. Our trainers are doing a nice job, trying to just quiet it down so that he can go play, and play effectively."

Rookie wide receiver Danny Gray missed his second practice of the week due to a hip injury.

Below are Friday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Rams, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.

49ers' Kyle Shanahan: Javon Kinlaw's hard work showing up on the film

By David Bonilla
15 hrs

All offseason, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan expressed confidence in fourth-year defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw despite the team not exercising the player's fifth-year option. It was certainly more confidence than fans had in the former first-round draft pick. Kinlaw had missed 24 games over the past two seasons. He underwent reconstructive knee surgery in 2021. A setback last season forced Kinlaw to miss 11 games. Fans were ready to label the defensive lineman a "bust." Some already had. The defensive lineman just could not stay on the football field. Kinlaw is finally healthy, though, and making his presence known. The defensive tackle is on pace for his best Pro Football Focus grade after an unimpressive first three NFL seasons.

49ers' Arik Armstead on Drake Jackson's growth: "I'm a proud vet today"

By David Bonilla
Sep 14

One San Francisco 49ers veteran expressed his recognition of Drake Jackson's growth. The second-year defensive end tallied three sacks on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, matching his total for all of last season. Jackson's emergence creates a formidable challenge for opposing offenses who now have to deal with him and Nick Bosa on the edges. Javon Hargrave, this year's prize free-agent addition, and savvy veteran Arik Armstead are in the middle. The latter spoke highly of Jackson's progress, the result of hard offseason work. "Man, I'm a proud vet today," Armstead said on his new "Third and Long" podcast. "Drake Jackson, year two, man, this kid is extremely talented. He worked extremely hard this offseason to prepare himself for this season, and it's

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 2 contest against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw is dealing with a groin injury and did not practice. However, he was seen working on a side field. "It's just wear and tear," head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters. "It's just still sore." The 49ers gave tackle Trent Williams his usual veteran day off. Besides those absences, the Niners are relatively healthy entering their Week 2 matchup. Below are Wednesday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Rams, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff. 49ers vs. Rams Injury Report: Dre Greenlaw returns; Samuel Womack doesn't practice

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 2 contest against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw returned to practice after sitting out Wednesday's session due to a groin injury. The setback was never viewed as serious. "It's just wear and tear," head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters this week. "It's just still sore." On KNBR Thursday, Shanahan added, "Dre was good. He went full today (but was officially listed as "limited") and had a good
