The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 4 contest against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill is getting closer to returning to the football field. He returned to practice for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in the 49ers' first preseason game. That's good news for a unit that lost its best player, left tackle
Trent Williams, for at least a month to a high-ankle sprain.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan
didn't have an update on Williams' injury. The 49ers don't believe he will require surgery, and the team hopes to avoid placing the offensive lineman on injured reserve.
Also expected to miss some time is linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, who suffered an MCL sprain against the Denver Broncos this past weekend.
Defensive end
Arik Armstead, who is dealing with plantar fasciitis in his right foot, continues to sit out practices. He was among the
49ers' inactive players against the Broncos.
Armstead worked with trainers on a side field during Thursday's practice.
Rookie wide receiver
Danny Gray didn't practice due to a hip injury. Defensive tackle
Javon Kinlaw also sat out practice due to his knee.
Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Rams, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.

On KNBR Thursday, Shanahan added, "Dre was good. He went full today (but was officially listed as "limited") and had a good

The San Francisco 49ers cruised to a 30-23 win on Sunday, overcoming a tight first half to generate a double-digit lead until the last play of the game, improving to 2-0 on the season.
Now, the 49ers are getting ready to host their season opener, and it comes in primetime, as San Francisco will play the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football at Levi's Stadium this week.
The Giants have started their season with two very different games, losing 40-0 to the Dallas Cowboys in the opener before making a comeback in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals for a 31-28 win.
However, they may be without star running back Saquon Barkley, who suffered an ankle sprain in Week 2, potentially putting an even bigger onus on quarterback Daniel Jones against the

The San Francisco 49ers have sported an excellent defense over the past few seasons, despite going from defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to DeMeco Ryans and now Steve Wilks, utilizing a similar scheme and consistently developing talent on that side of the ball.
However, there has been one area, regardless of coordinator and talent, that the 49ers have struggled against defensively: containing dual-threat quarterbacks.
That's the challenge they face in Week 3, as the 49ers are hosting the New York Giants and quarterback Daniel Jones in the home opener. The Giants have seen a tumultuous start to the season with a blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, and a thrilling comeback victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.
