Guard John Miller visiting 49ers ahead of Week 1, per report

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for the regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears on September 11. One of the biggest question marks on the team—aside from second-year quarterback
Trey Lance—is the interior of the offensive line.
With
Trent Williams and
Mike McGlinchey set to start on the edges at the two tackle spots, the starters along the interior have yet to be finalized. Head coach Kyle Shanahan recently said those decisions would come in the time leading to Week 1.
The San Francisco Chronicle recently reported that the 49ers have inquired about potential trades for an interior offensive lineman, perhaps bolstering the experienced group of players.

The 49ers have recently made trade inquiries to add an interior offensive lineman, but a deal doesn't appear imminent, according to league sources," wrote Eric Branch.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the 49ers will host a free-agent guard, John Miller.
The Buffalo Bills made Miller (6-3, 315) a third-round selection (No. 81 overall) out of Louisville in 2015. During his seven NFL seasons, he has also spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals (2019) and Carolina Panthers (2020-21).
Miller has started all 84 games in which he has appeared over his career, including 10 for the Panthers last season. He has started 10-or-more games in all but one season—2017, when he started just four.

Playoff Picture: Where the 49ers stand ahead of Week 13 clash with Dolphins
Not much has changed with the NFC playoff picture compared to last week. The only difference is that the Washington Commanders have ousted the Seattle Seahawks from the top seven and would now be the final Wildcard team if the season ended today.
The 49ers' Week 12 win over the New Orleans Saints and the Seahawks' loss to the Las Vegas Raiders has given San Francisco a full game lead over its division rival in the NFC West.

49ers promote D-lineman to active roster ahead of Saints game
On Friday, the San Francisco 49ers listed defensive lineman Arik Armstead (foot, ankle) as "doubtful" for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is "questionable" as he deals with a hamstring injury.
In preparation for potentially missing Armstead, the 49ers announced that they have promoted defensive lineman T.Y. McGill from the practice squad to the active roster. They could not temporarily elevate him from the practice squad because the team had already done so three times, the maximum for one season.
San Francisco waived defensive lineman Kemoko Turay to open the roster spot necessary for promoting McGill. Turay has been inactive for five games this season, including the past three.
