Of the remaining quarterback-needy teams, the Cleveland Browns have been the betting favorite to eventually land San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. They are waiting to learn the fate of Deshaun Watson, who is likely facing a league-issued suspension.

According to BetOnline.ag, there is a new betting favorite, though—the New York Giants. With training camps kicking off across the NFL this week, oddsmakers believe Garoppolo could be headed to the East Coast.

It's worth noting that the Giants are the betting favorite to be Garoppolo's next NFL team. That says nothing about how the 49ers quarterback gets there. San Francisco would like to trade Garoppolo, getting something for the quarterback they acquired in 2017 from the New England Patriots.

If a trade partner can't be found, and with Trey Lance being the undisputed starter in Santa Clara, the 49ers might be forced to release Garoppolo and his hefty salary.

Below are the current odds for Garoppolo's next team.

  • New York Giants, +200 (+350 last week)
  • Cleveland Browns, +225
  • Seattle Seahawks, +350
  • Houston Texans, +500
  • Detroit Lions, +600
  • Chicago Bears, +1400
  • New York Jets, +2000
  • New Orleans Saints, +2200

Garoppolo underwent shoulder surgery on March 8. While he passed his physical on Tuesday, the team excused him from participating in training camp activities.

"We're saying, 'Go ahead, you don't have to be here,'" head coach Shanahan said on Wednesday. "[If] he wants to be, he can, but … we understand every part of this situation. I think both sides know each side is doing as good as we can [to make a trade happen]."

General manager John Lynch addressed reporters on Monday and acknowledged the wide range of possibilities. However, he noted that any potential discussions about trading spots with other teams will likely intensify later in the week. "It's going to be an interesting year," Lynch stated. "I think it's an interesting draft class. I was just looking at my notes and one interesting thing to me, dynamic, and the way of the world right now, we put a grade on players in the fall if we think

When asked about the possibility of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk not being on the San Francisco 49ers roster on Friday morning, general manager John Lynch responded, "I wouldn't anticipate that." Lynch assured reporters that signing Aiyuk to a long-term extension is a priority, stating, "And our wish is that he's here and a part of the Niners for the rest of his career. We're working through that." While Lynch didn't elaborate on the conversations occurring behind closed doors, Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that a potential trade remains a

49ers add pass rusher in new 7-round mock draft

By David Bonilla
Apr 15

Marcus Mosher of The 33rd Team revealed his latest mock draft, which goes seven rounds deep and projects every selection for every NFL team. While most predict that the San Francisco 49ers will add an offensive lineman with their first selection, No. 31 overall, Mosher has the Bay Area team going in a different direction. The writer and analyst has the Niners selecting former UCLA pass rusher Laiatu Latu in the first round. "It wouldn't be a shock to see Laiatu Latu fall in the draft due to his medical history, but he is too good of a value to pass up here at No. 31," Mosher wrote. "The San Francisco 49ers have been searching for the right pass
