On Wednesday, San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch spoke with reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He provided an update on his starting right tackle, Mike McGlinchey.
During the 49ers' November 7, 2021 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, McGlinchey suffered a torn quad injury, missing the remaining nine games of the season. Some questioned the severity of the injury, wondering if it could even threaten his career.
"Mike's doing well," Lynch told reporters. "He had a significant surgery to repair that quad tendon. But just as Mike has always done, he attacks everything 100 percent, and his rehab is going really well.
"So, we're pleased with his progress. We're going to give him the time he needs, so not only [does] he gets back, but he gets back and is pain-free, and can play like we believe he's capable of playing."
San Francisco made McGlinchey the No. 9 overall pick in 2018. Through his four NFL seasons, he has started all 52 games in which he has been available.
