San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch joined KNBR's Murph & Mac show this morning. He provided an update on his rookie quarterback, Trey Lance, who has been recovering from a chipped bone in his finger suffered on August 29 in the preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The 49ers are preparing for their Week 1 matchup against the Detroit Lions, and Lance has been limited in the team's last two practices. Lynch was asked if his rookie will be available on Sunday.
"It looks like it," Lynch responded. "He's had two good days of practice, provided he goes out there today and doesn't have any setbacks, which, at this point, is just about not hitting his hand on anyone's helmet, the way he [initially injured the finger].
"He's been unaffected this week. He's looked good, and we're looking forward for him to have a good day of practice, and then they'll make that decision. But I think it's been encouraging thus far."
The 49ers' final full practice of the week begins today at 12:05 p.m. PT.
