49ers Promote Adam Peters to Assistant General Manager

Feb 19, 2021 at 9:06 AM--

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that VP of player personnel Adam Peters has been promoted to assistant general manager.

"Adam has earned this promotion, which is a result of his hard work and dedication to the 49er Way," said Lynch via a statement issued by the team. "He has been a tremendous asset to our team and we look forward to Adam continuing to play an integral role in all aspects of football operations in our quest to compete for championships."

Peters has spent the past four seasons with the 49ers, working closely with general manager John Lynch to build a roster that reached the Super Bowl during the 2019 season. Peters was a candidate this offseason for the general manager job with the Carolina Panthers. The team ultimately hired former Seattle Seahawks VP of football operations Scott Fitterer.

Peters was among the first hires by Lynch, who joined the team on January 29, 2017. Peters was hired two days later after spending his previous eight seasons (2009-16) with the Denver Broncos, where he served as the Broncos' director of college scouting in 2016. He was Denver's assistant director of college scouting from 2014 until 2015 following three years as a national scout and two seasons scouting the Western region for Denver.

Peters was reportedly integral in acquiring players who made up the Broncos' Super Bowl 50 championship roster.

Before his time in Denver, Peters spent six years (2003-08) with the New England Patriots. In his first two seasons with the Patriots as a scouting assistant, he was a part of two Super Bowl championships (XXXVIII in 2003 and XXXIX in 2004). In 2005, he handled pro scouting duties for the team before serving his final three seasons (2006-08) with the Patriots as an area scout.

Justin Wong just released his latest Mock Draft Roundup. The overwhelming favorite projection for the San Francisco 49ers at the No. 3 overall pick is the selection of quarterback Mac Jones of Alabama. Add NFL Network's Peter Schrager to the list of those following that narrative. The Good Morning Football host released his own mock draft on Thursday morning, and like most others, it has Trevor Lawrence of Clemson and Zach Wilson of BYU coming off the board with the top two selections. Those predictions seem like

Draft analyst calls Mac Jones-to-49ers speculation 'very premature'

Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network is well-informed when it comes to pre-draft chatter around the league. The draft analyst hears all of the Mac Jones-to-49ers speculation, with many proclaiming the scenario as a near-lock. Pauline wants everyone to pump the brakes on that a bit because he doesn't see it as the certainty that many others would lead you to believe it is. "People, I think, are just under the assumption of belief that it's a foregone conclusion that [the San Francisco 49ers are] going to take Mac Jones with that third pick in the draft," Pauline told Trey Wingo on a recent podcast (h/t to Patrick Tulini). "I'm told that's not the case at all. There are some things that they're looking at with Mac Jones
