Undlin was part of the Philadelphia Eagles staff in 2015 when new 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans was there during the former linebacker's final year as a player.

Undlin has been an NFL coach since 2004, starting with the New England Patriots as a defensive assistant. He has served in various roles with the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Denver Broncos, Eagles, and Detroit Lions since entering the NFL coaching ranks.
Undlin served as a defensive backs coach with the Browns, Jaguars, Broncos, and Eagles. He spent last season as the defensive coordinator with the Lions.
Undlin was with the Patriots when they won Super Bowl XXXIX and the Eagles when they won Super Bowl LII.
