The San Francisco 49ers' 2021 season opponent list has been finalized following the early games from Week 17's action. The NFL will not announce the dates and times for next season's schedule until April or May. This season's schedule was released on May 7, 2020.
As it does every season, San Francisco will play each NFC West opponent twice. The team will also face the entire NFC North and AFC South divisions and this season's last-place opponents from the NFC South and NFC East — the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles.
The NFL is also expected to add a 17th regular-season game to boost revenues and offset the losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Limited or no fans were allowed in NFL venues during this season. As a result, the league is likely to see a drop in team salary caps, and the additional game for each team would help minimize that drop.
It hasn't been revealed how the location of that 17th game will be determined. We know that each NFC West team will be matched up against the AFC North opponent with the same spot in its standings. That would mean the 49ers going up against the last-place Cincinnati Bengals.
Below are the 49ers' matchups for next season, with the division opponents listed first and then the remaining teams in alphabetical order.
