Former second-round draft pick, wide receiver Dante Pettis, has landed with a new team. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the New York Giants have claimed him the day after the San Francisco 49ers waived the 25-year-old. That means the Giants will assume the remainder of Pettis' contract.
Giants claimed former 49ers' WR Dante Pettis on waivers, per source.
The 49ers drafted Pettis out of Washington in 2018. His production has diminished since his 27-reception, 467-yard, and five-touchdown rookie campaign. Pettis hauled in just 11 passes for 109 yards and two scores last season. He had no catches and was inactive for three games this season.
San Francisco had been actively engaged in trade discussions for Pettis but then waived him after the trade deadline due to a lack of interest.
Pettis tweeted out the following after news broke that he was headed to New York.
