‘He’s got it all’: Julian Edelman praises ‘handsome’ Jimmy Garoppolo ahead of 49ers-Patriots

Oct 23, 2020 at 6:46 AM--

They haven't been teammates for three years, but New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman still has a fondness for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The two will get to see each other again on Sunday when the Patriots host the 49ers at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

This weekend's matchup will be the first time Garoppolo has faced his former squad since the Patriots traded the quarterback to San Francisco in the middle of the 2017 season. Of course, that has resulted in the quarterback receiving a lot of questions about his time in New England learning under Bill Belichick. It also resulted in a question about Garoppolo for Edelman during "The Greg Hill Show."

"Jimmy, he can play football," Edelman said on WEEI in Boston. "He's got that little gun-slinger mentality. He's got that quick release. He's handsome. You know, he's got it all."

Added Edelman: "I don't play against Jimmy G. I'll play against the defense. I'll be playing against the 49ers defense, but it will be weird and kind of cool to see him in my hometown uniform that I grew up watching, coming to Foxborough to play us this weekend."

Edelman was born in Redwood City, California.

Kyle Shanahan praises Kerry Hyder, says D-lineman has saved injury-ravaged 49ers

By David Bonilla

There is no doubt that injuries have played a significant role in the regression of the San Francisco 49ers this season. As Bleacher Report stated in its most recent power rankings, "The Super Bowl hangover has claimed another victim." The defensive line, a strength last season for the defending NFC champions, is among the groups that have been transformed due to injuries. It is almost unrecognizable from the unit that helped lift the team to 13 wins and the division crown last season. Gone are DeForest Buckner, who was traded, Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas, who

49ers' Kyle Shanahan on Nick Mullens: 'He gives us a chance to win, but we've got to play better around him'

By David Bonilla

Quarterback Nick Mullens hasn't been thrown into the best situation. He has taken over an injury-ravaged San Francisco 49ers roster that is just now starting to get some of its key players back. Yet, it remains far from full-strength. With Jimmy Garoppolo sidelined with a high-ankle sprain until at least Week 15, it's Mullens at the helm of the 49ers offense for now. He has completed 67.3 percent of his passes for 1,390 yards with six touchdowns through six games and four starts this season. The quarterback has also thrown six interceptions and posted a passer rating of over 90.0 just twice. Head coach Kyle Shanahan can't deny that Mullens has been up and down this season. Not all of it is his fault, though. The quarterback has been dealt a difficult hand. In one

Nov 25, 2020

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh spoke with reporters before practice on Wednesday, as the team prepares for its game against the Los Angeles Rams. Here is everything he had to say. Transcript provided by the San Francisco 49ers Communications staff. CB Jamar Taylor seemed to have a really good game against the Rams the last time you played them. I think Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp finished with 11 receiving yards. What did he, what did you guys as a whole do well in that game to sort of limit that Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff-Kupp connection? "You know, I thought our guys did a really nice job executing, playing within themselves, playing within the scheme and did a really nice job studying and
