Running back Raheem Mostert suffered an ankle injury on Sunday night during the San Francisco 49ers' 24-16 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Kyle Shanahan isn't sure yet about the severity of the injury.

"No, we don't know yet on Raheem," Shanahan told reporters after the game. "I'm sure we'll find out tomorrow. I know he tried to come back. I think he did at the end of the second quarter. He tried to come back in. I think he did one play in the third quarter, and then he couldn't go."

Mostert finished the game with 17 carries for 65 rushing yards and added two catches for 11 receiving yards.

The 49ers coach knows what Mostert means to his offense. The running back has proven to be a game-changer.

"I think Raheem has shown this league, starting last year, how special of a back he is," Shanahan said. "Any time you lose a special guy like that, there definitely is a change. But I've also got a lot of confidence in our other guys too. ... But it always hurts when you lose a good one like Raheem."

Other Injury Updates

  • Safety Jaquiski Tartt suffered a groin injury and did not return.
  • Center Ben Garland sustained a calf injury and did not return.
  • Offensive tackle Trent Williams was examined for a head injury and did return.

On Tuesday morning, Purdy joined the "Pat McAfee Show," acknowledging that he believes he can contribute more rushing yards if called upon. However, that decision rests with head coach Kyle Shanahan,
