The San Francisco 49ers have announced that linebacker Fred Warner has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. He did not practice on Sunday, and the team did not provide a reason for his absence, at the time.

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw and rookie defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw were also absent from practice on Sunday. Although, Kinlaw returned to practice on Monday. Greenlaw's absence remains unexplained. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh was asked on Sunday if there was any concern about any of the three players from an injury standpoint.

"No, there's not," the coach responded. "Not from my understanding anyway."

Warner becomes the third 49ers player to land on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Wide receiver Richie James Jr. was placed on the list on July 27. Running back Jeff Wilson Jr. landed on it on July 30. Both players were removed on August 4. San Francisco did not have a player on the reserve/COVID-19 list since.

The reserve/COVID-19 list has been created for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons. If a player falls into either of these categories, his club is required to immediately place the player on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Clubs are not permitted to comment on a player's medical status other than referring to the roster status and may not disclose whether the player is in quarantine or is positive for COVID-19.

The 49ers are scheduled to host the Arizona Cardinals at Levi's Stadium in 13 days.
