Veteran OL Jamon Brown will work out for 49ers on Friday, per report

Aug 26, 2020 at 5:53 PM--

Former St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants, and Atlanta Falcons offensive lineman Jamon Brown will work out for the San Francisco 49ers on Friday, according to a report from Vaughn McClure of ESPN.

The Rams made Brown a third-round pick out of Louisville in 2015. He has appeared in 60 games, starting 47, in his five NFL seasons.

Brown joined the Giants in 2018 and then signed a three-year, $18.75 million deal with the Falcons in 2019.

The offensive lineman missed part of training camp while in the concussion protocol before Atlanta released him on Monday. He started nine games at guard last season.

H/t to Patrick Tulini for the find.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan joined KNBR this afternoon and provided two key injury updates. One was on his starting quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, who is returning from a calf injury suffered on October 3. The injury forced him to miss Week 5, but the coach sounds more and more confident that Garoppolo will be ready for Sunday's home game against the Indianapolis Colts. "He's getting better each day," Shanahan said on the Tolbert, Krueger & Brooks show. "I mean, there shouldn't be any problem with him by Sunday at all. Any time you're coming off the calf injury like that, it takes a little time to get that soreness out, so you'll see it on some throws here and there. But each day it gets much better, and I think he'll be feeling 100 percent by

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 7 contest against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Tackle Trent Williams, quarterback Trey Lance, and defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw have missed three consecutive practices. Williams suffered an ankle sprain during the 49ers' Week 5 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Kyle Shanahan repeated what he said on Thursday, that the veteran tackle tweaked the injury during Monday's practice. The final decision on Williams will go all the way up to game time, said the coach. For now, he has been ruled "doubtful." Rookie Jaylon Moore will start if

Why the 49ers need to quickly figure out their Brandon Aiyuk situation

By Rohan Chakravarthi

What the heck have the 49ers done with Brandon Aiyuk? That has been the primary question for this 2-3 San Francisco team since Week 1, when the promising receiver, who had an impressive rookie season, was out-snapped by free-agent addition Trent Sherfield 27-26. Drafted 25th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, Aiyuk burst into the spotlight last season, especially late in the year, catching 60 passes for 748 yards overall. In fact, in a six-game stretch from Weeks 7-15 (not including the two games he was on the COVID-19 list), the rookie averaged 94.7 receiving yards, catching 7.5 passes on 11.5 targets per game. The most important part: Aiyuk played on no lower than 76% of the offensive snaps during those weeks, which is a feat he's
