Free-agent tight end Erik Swoope worked out for the San Francisco 49ers today, and will reportedly sign with the team, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Former Miami hoops player and #Colts TE Erik Swoope is signing with the #49ers, source said. More depth in SF, where he worked out today.
Swoope was one of two tight ends to reportedly work out for San Francisco. The other was Caleb Repp.
49ers tight end Ross Dwelley missed both of this past weekend's practices with a foot injury, and the team continues to ease veteran Jordan Reed back onto the practice field after he missed all of last season due to the symptoms of a concussion.
Swoope entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in 2014. He has also spent time with the New Orleans Saints and the Oakland Raiders.
Swoope's best statistical season came in 2016 when he caught 15 passes for 297 yards with a touchdown. He has hauled in 23 receptions for 384 yards with four touchdowns in two NFL seasons. Swoope did not record a catch in 2014 or 2015, spent 2017 on injured reserve, and did not play last season after being waived by the Raiders.
