49ers DE Nick Bosa ranks No. 17 on NFL Top 100 Players of 2020

Jul 28, 2020 at 7:20 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers' second-year defensive end, Nick Bosa, has debuted on the NFL Top 100 Players list, coming in at No. 17 on the 2020 version of the ranking. The pass rusher is the fourth of five 49ers players on this year's list and joins linebacker Fred Warner, who came in at No. 70, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo at No. 43, and cornerback Richard Sherman at No. 28.

Bosa is the highest-ranked defender following his rookie season in the history of the NFL Top 100 Players.

The 49ers drafted Bosa out of Ohio State with the No. 2 overall pick in 2019. He registered 47 tackles, nine sacks, two passes defensed, an interception, and a forced fumble through 16 games in 2019 on his way to earning a Pro Bowl selection and being named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. He added four more sacks during postseason play, including one against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV.

Tight end George Kittle is likely the final 49ers player on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2020. We just don't yet know where he will rank. We do know Kittle will probably be the highest-ranked tight end on the list as Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs came in at No. 18.

The NFL Top 100 Players list is voted on by players and is based on performance during the previous year and predicted performance during the upcoming season. The list is in its 10th season on NFL Network.

Two players — Kittle and pass rusher Dee Ford — represented the 49ers on last year's NFL Top 100 Players list.

Next: No. 28 - Cornerback Richard Sherman

Trent Williams received a video from his head coach on Sunday after the San Francisco 49ers' loss to the Arizona Cardinals. It was the block he had on linebacker Jordan Hicks during the game. "Wow, it's good to have you back," Kyle Shanahan said in the message that included the highlight. That block went viral on Sunday, and rightfully so. Williams absolutely obliterated the defender on the play, which featured tight end George Kittle on an end-around run. Here's some cleaner video of that viral clip of Trent Williams killing a man in broad daylight.

ESPN ranks three 49ers among the most impactful injuries from Week 2, with Nick Bosa at No. 1

By David Bonilla
Sep 21, 2020

Bill Barnwell of ESPN ranked the most impactful injuries that emerged from Week 2's slate of NFL games. At the top of the list was second-year defensive end Nick Bosa, who is believed to have suffered a torn ACL. That would mean an end to his season. "Bosa, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 draft, was one of the biggest additions to the 49ers' defense when coordinator Robert Saleh's unit took a step forward last season," wrote Barnwell. "He played a full season, racking up nine sacks and 25 hits before adding four more sacks in the postseason. Bosa would have been a viable Super Bowl MVP selection if the
