Typically, you might select a young and talented quarterback like Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes as the one player you would choose to build around if you are starting an NFL franchise. The Super Bowl LIV MVP was Bucky Brooks' selection when asked that very question on NFL Network.
Charley Casserly, however, went in an entirely different direction, selecting the San Francisco 49ers' second-year pass rusher, Nick Bosa.
FYI: David Carr went with the Seattle Seahawks' 31-year-old quarterback, Russell Wilson, rather than going with one of the league's younger stars.
While a very strong case can be made for Mahomes, it's tough to deny the impact Bosa had on the defensive side of the football in just his first NFL season. The budding star lived up to being the No. 2 overall pick in 2019. He was named the NFL's AP Defensive Rookie of the Year while racking up nine regular-season sacks and four postseason sacks along the way.
"It's going to take you seven years (if you start with a quarterback)," Cassserly, who was the only one not to select a quarterback, told Colleen Wolfe, Brooks, and Carr on NFL Total Access. "Your quarterbacks won't make it."

Carr admits that while he picked Wilson, he believes Casserly's choice of Bosa is a good one.
H/t to Patrick Tulini for the find.
