It was a busy Monday for the San Francisco 49ers as the team re-signed defensive end Arik Armstead and traded away defensive tackle DeForest Buckner. Then, later that night, it was reported that safety Jimmie Ward was returning on a three-year deal.

Oh, and the 49ers brought back tackle Shon Coleman on a one-year deal.

Ronald Blair re-signed

The 49ers re-signed defensive end Ronald Blair, whose 2019 campaign ended early after suffering a torn ACL, to a one-year deal. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent.

Jerick McKinnon restructures contract

The 49ers freed up some salary cap space after restructuring the contract of running back Jerick McKinnon. He initially had two years left in his deal with a salary cap hit of $8.55 million in 2020. Under the new terms, McKinnon will make the veteran minimum plus roster bonuses this year, with 2021 being eliminated from the contract.

Matt Breida and Kendrick Bourne tendered

Running back Matt Breida and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne each received second-round tenders. That means the two players are free to negotiate with other teams. The 49ers, however, would have the right to match any competing offer, and should they fail to do so, San Francisco would receive a second-round pick for each departing player.

Levine Toilolo not expected to return

Tight end Levine Toilolo plans to sign a two-year, $6.2 million deal with the New York Giants.
