Daniel Jeremiah explains why LSU WR Justin Jefferson is a good fit for the 49ers

Feb 12, 2020 at 5:04 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers don't currently have a lot of draft capital. They don't even have a Day 2 pick. As the Super Bowl runner-ups, they own the No. 31 overall pick and could trade down to acquire more selections in later rounds.

NFL Network ran a feature on Wednesday, asking analyst Daniel Jeremiah to find good fits for receiver-needy teams. The 49ers were among the teams he attempted to find a fit. Who did he come up with for San Francisco?

LSU wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

"We saw that (49ers) offense and what they can do running the football, how creative they were," explained Jeremiah. "How about go get them Justin Jefferson from LSU, who (on) third-down red zones, especially working in the slot, he's just got a real comfortable, natural feel.

"And to let Justin Jefferson team up with Deebo Samuel, kind of be that one-two punch for the next decade for Jimmy Garoppolo and that Forty-Niner offense, man, it would be fun to watch."

Jeremiah sees this draft as a deep one for receivers.

"The interesting thing is, if they pass on these guys ... there will be some pretty good options for them in the following rounds, as well," Jeremiah added.

Jefferson (6-3, 192) racked up 111 receptions for 1,540 yards with 18 touchdowns as a junior with the Tigers in 2019.

For the most part, the San Francisco 49ers offensive line is set. You have Trent Williams and Mike McGlinchey as locks to anchor the ends and the underrated Laken Tomlinson at the left guard spot. Right now, Ben Garland is filling in for Weston Richburg. The latter is on the physically-unable-to-perform list as he continues to recover from the torn patellar tendon suffered last season. General manager John Lynch had hoped Richburg would be ready for training camp and shared in April that the offensive lineman should be healthy for the start of the regular

George Kittle explains how 49ers rookie tight end Charlie Woerner won him over

It didn't take long for the San Francisco 49ers' sixth-round pick, tight end Charlie Woerner out of Georgia, to impress All-Pro tight end George Kittle. And it wasn't seeing him haul in some deep pass from a 49ers quarterback during the player-organized workouts in Tennessee that did it. In fact, it was when Woerner got a little bored with the passing reps. Kittle joined the Pardon My Take podcast this week and shared the exact moment when he knew he and Woerner were going to work well together. "I'm excited. Charlie's a good dude," Kittle shared. "We were actually running routes together, and he was like, 'Hey, this passing stuff is kind of boring. When are we going to start talking about run game?' "And I was like, 'You're my guy. I needed

Steve Young explains how COVID-19 could impact 49ers' Super Bowl hopes

By David Bonilla
Aug 11, 2020

The San Francisco 49ers face an immense challenge in their quest to return to the Super Bowl and redeem themselves of February's crushing defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs. Not only is it arduous for the Super Bowl champions to return to the big game, but it is also more so the case for the Super Bowl runner-ups. Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young recently shared why COVID-19 creates an even greater challenge for head coach Kyle Shanahan and his 49ers. NFL coaches have had a lot of time on their hands to watch the film and break down what San Francisco's innovative offense accomplished last season. "I'm sure that an incredible amount of time has been spent by 31 other coaches and staffs in the NFL to study (the 49ers)," Young told Matt Maiocco last week
