"You're going to be the No. 1 team in the NFC": Adam Rank predicts 14-3 record for 49ers

By David Bonilla

Yes, everyone remembers NFL Media analyst Adam Rank predicting a three-win season for the San Francisco 49ers in 2019. That team went on to win 13 games before a playoff run that ended just short of a championship. Last year, Rank predicted a 12-4 record. Instead, San Francisco won half as many games after suffering through one of the most injury-plagued seasons NFL fans had seen in decades. Rank gets a pass because no one saw that one coming. The Niners are healthier entering the 2021 season and look to prove that last season, not 2019, was the anomaly. So what is Rank's prediction for this year's

The NFC West is on a roll, which isn't necessarily great news for the San Francisco 49ers when it comes to the success of their division rivals. Through two weeks of NFL play this season, the NFC West is 7-1 as a whole. That, of course, includes the 49ers' Week 2 17-11 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. There is a three-way tie for the division lead, proving what many believed—that the NFC West would likely be the most competitive division this season. "NFC West,

The San Francisco 49ers defense will see a familiar foe on Sunday in Detroit. The team will open its season against quarterback Jared Goff and the Lions. The Niners, of course, played against Goff regularly when he was with the Los Angeles Rams. An offseason trade shipped him out of the NFC West and to Motor City. Head coach Kyle Shanahan isn't making any assumptions, though. This is a new Lions team with a lot of new players and new coaching staff. So there isn't really a way to predict what they might do. As for Goff himself, Shanahan respects the former division foe and knows not to underestimate him. "Goff's played at a very high level in this league," Shanahan said this afternoon on KNBR's Tolbert, Krueger & Brooks show. "We all know, if he has

San Francisco 49ers coordinators DeMeco Ryans, Mike McDaniel, and Richard Hightower spoke with reporters after today's practice. Here is everything they had to say. Transcript provided by the San Francisco 49ers Communications staff. Special Teams Coordinator Richard Hightower How does this work as far as the guys who are up and down on gameday? Does head coach Kyle Shanahan ask you for a list of guys that you cannot go into a Sunday without? As far as the guys who aren't starters who may or may not be on kind of the bubble for being activated or deactivated? "Yeah, that's a good question. I think when it comes to stuff like that, coach Shanahan and I meet on that and he meets with other position groups on
