The Minnesota Vikings saw their season end at Levi's Stadium after the San Francisco 49ers knocked them out of the playoffs on Saturday. The Vikings are crying foul on one 49ers defender, though.
Cornerback Richard Sherman intercepted a pass from Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins in the third quarter, and Bosa hit right tackle Brian O'Neill in the head area on the return and was flagged for unnecessary roughness.
Vikings players felt the rookie defensive end's hit was uncalled for and described it to their head coach, Mike Zimmer, as a "cheap shot."
Zimmer was asked about the play after the game.
"I didn't see the hit," he responded. "I just heard (from players that) it was just a cheap shot, which I think it was."
O'Neill did not return to the game after it was determined he had suffered a concussion.
Cousins didn't want to comment on the play because he missed it.
"The game was happening so fast that I didn't see [the hit]," Cousins said. "So, I can't even comment."
Vikings guard Josh Kline did see the hit and agreed with his head coach. He was asked if he felt it was a cheap shot by Bosa.
"I thought it was,'' Kline responded. "There's no reason for that hit in the game these days, especially when you go for someone's head like that. It's just very disappointing that someone would do that. There's no place for that in the game. They put that block out for a reason.''
The 49ers soon took a 24-10 lead after the costly turnover and never let up, coasting to a 27-10 victory and earning a trip to the NFC Championship Game next weekend.
