49ers-Seahawks Injury Report: Jaquiski Tartt listed as ‘doubtful’ with an ‘outside chance’ to play

Dec 27, 2019 at 1:56 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 17 contest against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington.

The significant news coming out of Thursday's practice was that defensive lineman Jullian Taylor suffered a knee injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed on Friday that Taylor suffered a torn ACL and will be placed on injured reserve. The team will promote defensive lineman Kevin Givens from the practice squad to take Taylor's roster spot.

Defensive end Dee Ford (quadricep, hamstring) continues to miss practice and has been ruled out for Sunday.

Safety Jaquiski Tartt (ribs) and wide receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder) remained in blue no-contact jerseys on Friday but have practiced all week. Samuel is expected to play on Sunday, and the receiver did not appear on Friday's team-issued injury report.

"There's concern on all these guys," Shanahan told reporters on Friday. "Everyone's got some wear and tear, but he'll be alright for the game. He'll be able to play for it, so he's not questionable at all in that way."

Tartt, however, is listed as "doubtful" for Sunday.

"He's gotten out there a little bit; some more than he has been, which does give him a chance, whatever that word means," Shanahan said. "It means it's more of an outside chance."

If Tartt cannot play, Marcell Harris will get another start in his place. Tartt has been inactive for the last three games.

Guard Mike Person (neck) is the only 49ers player listed as "questionable."

Below are the official injury reports for the 49ers and Seahawks, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff. Also included are this week's practice participation reports.

By David Bonilla

Football Outsiders has once again taken a look at the best young players in the league who don't have a lot of playing time. The feature for ESPN casts aside first-round picks and other top prospects, and instead focuses on those who didn't receive a lot of fanfare. "This is a list of players who have a strong chance to make an impact in the NFL despite their lack of draft stock and the fact they weren't immediate NFL starters," wrote Rivers McCown. The list is a top 25 ranking, and two players represent the San Francisco 49ers. The first — 26-year-old offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill — comes in at No. 10. The

PFF explains why there's a 'real chance' Nick Mullens is a good quarterback

By David Bonilla
Jul 26, 2020

Quarterback Nick Mullens won't get a start anytime soon without Jimmy Garoppolo being forced to miss a game. He has eight starts for the San Francisco 49ers, all of which came during the 2018 season after starter Garoppolo suffered a torn ACL, and C.J. Beathard proved ineffective and sustained an injury of his own. It wasn't a big sample size, but Mullens filled in admirably, passing for 2,277 yards with 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions through those eight games before returning to his backup role the next season—following a training-camp competition with Beathard. Analytics site Pro Football Focus recently ranked the

Nick Bosa has a 'very good chance' to be NFL Defensive Player of the Year, says Brian Baldinger

By David Bonilla
Jul 28, 2020

NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger joined 95.7 The Game on Tuesday and explained why he believes the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa, can be even better in 2020. How much better? Baldinger believes Bosa is a candidate for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award. "I think, honestly, in talking to players that have played with Nick Bosa in practice, and talking to oppositions that have had to block him," Baldinger said on the Bonta, Steiny & Guru show, "I believe -- and I was with a general manager last night talking about pass rushers and, specifically, Nick Bosa -- I think he's got a very good chance to be the defensive MVP of this league. I think he has that kind of talent. "And
