The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 15 contest against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The 49ers are dealing with several injuries on defense, many of which are to starters. Both defensive end Dee Ford and cornerback Richard Sherman are expected to miss time as the team closes out its regular-season schedule. They continue to miss practice as they both rehab hamstring injuries.

The good news on the Sherman front is that he was seen moving well on the field before practice kicked off.

Sherman told reporters after practice that he feels he could play on Sunday if the 49ers would let him, and that he hopes to play next weekend against the Los Angeles Rams.

Defensive tackle D.J. Jones did not practice, and his ankle injury is believed to be significant. So significant, in fact, that it could end his season, head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed this week.

Others who sat out Thursday's practice are safety Jaquiski Tartt (ribs), defensive tackle Jullian Taylor (elbow), and cornerback K'Waun Williams (concussion).

Wide receiver Dante Pettis (knee) appears to be on track to return. He was a full practice participant for the second consecutive day.

Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Falcons, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.

The San Francisco 49ers are holding their local pro day today at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. The team has released the full roster of participants. An NFL local pro day is an event hosted by teams to allow prospects with ties to the local area to showcase their skills in front of team personnel. These prospects typically hail from nearby colleges or have some other connection to the region where the team is based. Head coach Kyle Shanahan, general manager John Lynch, and a contingent of coaches, executives, and scouts will be on hand to evaluate prospective draftees during the 49ers' local pro day. The event aims to give the team a closer look at these local talents who may have received less attention during the regular scouting process. It will allow the

Ctrl+Z: 4 key decisions 49ers might "undo" if given the chance

By Marc Adams
Apr 6

No one is perfect. Each of us makes mistakes. I do for sure. Peruse your way through the many articles I've written for 49ers Webzone and you'll see plenty of mistakes. Whether it's a typo or some prediction I offered that didn't go as I had thought. The San Francisco 49ers are no different. John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have made their share of mistakes. Fortunately for all of us, they hit on more than they miss. But I wonder if we were able to catch them in a moment of complete transparency if they might admit to wanting to hit the Ctrl+Z and "undo" some moves. I doubt they will admit to such mistakes anytime soon, but fear not—I'm here to do it for them. Yes, I could write on the best decisions
